Alien/s Day (April 26)

LV426 (hence, April 26) is the original name of Acheron, a moon 39 light years from Earth. Though having no indigenous inhabitants, Acheron eventually came to house a human colony and a species of vicious aliens …who would repeatedly get their asses handed to them by Ellen Ripley. 

 

How to Commemorate:

• Use a forklift. 
• Shave your head. 
• Watch the movies.
• Get a pair of Ripley’s alien-crushing shoes (special release by Reebok).

First Contact Day

On April 5, 2063, Vulcans make first contact with humans near Bozman, Montana.  This encountered was triggered by the first warp flight, achieved by Zefram Cochran. 

For such a pivotal event, First Contact Day isn't discussed much in the Trek universe.  The movie Star Trek: First Contact and Voyager: Homestead (S7:E23) are almost the only references.  See Memory Alpha for more information.

How to Commemorate:

• Give children the day off from school (as Captain Janeway observed it)
• Drive really fast (because ...warp drive!)
• Eat cheese pierogies (Cochran's favorite food)
• Listen to rock and roll (Cochran's favorite music), preferably on a juke box
• Say "Live long and prosper" as a casual salutation.
